This is a small site for a single holiday rental — RR210 at Royal Residences, Cabarete. It is run by the owners, Jeff and Kathie, and day-to-day guest contact is handled by our property manager, Birgit. This page explains everything the site collects.
What we collect
Three things, and nothing else.
Analytics. We use Google Analytics to see which pages people read and which links they click. It tells us things like which country a visit came from, whether it was a phone or a laptop, which page was landed on, and whether a booking link was clicked. It does not tell us who you are. We use this to decide what to write about next and whether the site is doing its job.
How you use the page. Once you have accepted analytics, we also record how far down a page you scrolled, which sections you spent time on, which photos you opened, and how long you stayed. This is measured in aggregate to work out which parts of the site are worth keeping. It starts only after you accept, and never runs at all if you decline.
A reference code. When you accept analytics we generate a short random code — something like RR-K4TM — that lasts until you close the tab. If you then message Birgit on WhatsApp or by email, that code is added to the end of the message so we can tell which enquiry came from this website. It is randomly generated, contains nothing about you, and is not linked to any name, address or account. If you would rather not send it, delete it from the message before you hit send — Birgit will answer you exactly the same way.
Cookies
The cookie banner controls the analytics cookies. Until you accept, Google Analytics is not loaded and nothing about your visit is measured. The site also stores your language choice in your browser so it can be remembered on your next visit, and the reference code described above for as long as the tab is open — both stay on your device unless you send the code to Birgit yourself.
You can clear or block cookies in your browser at any time. Google also publishes an opt-out browser add-on that disables Google Analytics on every site you visit.
Where your data goes
- Google Analytics — usage statistics, processed by Google.
- Birgit — only what you write to her yourself, by WhatsApp or email.
- Cloudflare — hosts this site and serves the photos.
Nobody else receives anything. If you click through to Airbnb or message Birgit on WhatsApp, you're on their platforms and their own privacy policies apply — we have no visibility into what happens there.
How long we keep it
Google Analytics data expires automatically on Google's retention schedule. Messages you send stay in Birgit's inbox for as long as they're useful for arranging or following up a stay.
Your choices
Write to cabareterroyal@gmail.com and ask us to show you what we hold about you or delete it, and we will. There is no account to close and no mailing list to unsubscribe from — we don't run one.
Changes
If this page changes, the date at the top changes with it.
